New Zealand fell from 125-1 down to 168-5 during their second innings. This was a lead of just 137. Matthew Potts, paceman, had taken 2-20. The third day of the third Test was cut short by rain.

Jonny Bairstow just returned from Trent Bridge's match and series-winning century, and extended his overnight 130 to 162.

Will Young, the New Zealand opener, was then dismissed by the second-wicket team of 97 who steadied them.

Captain Kane Williamson covered-drove against skipper Ben Stokes's initial delivery in this Test for four.

Overton, the tall man who was in place of injured England great James Anderson had him caught behind by Bairstow for 76. First-choice gloveman Ben Foakes was also out with a stiff back.


After a rain break, Root was able to turn Root's first ball. However, Ollie Pope made a spectacular catch at the short leg.

Williamson casually flicked at Potts from the outside of stump to give Bairstow an easy catch. This was the third time in this series that Williamson had fallen to the Durham pitcher.

After the completion of a 48-ball match that featured eight boundaries, the star batter was furious and threw his head back.

"It's great that he's out, it's an excellent Test scalp and to have to him three times is really fun."

Jack Leach, left-arm spinner, was just out of his 5-100 in the opening innings. Henry Nicholls was then tricked into accepting a low return catch.

Daryl Mitchell was already at three hundred this series. Further rain stopped play and Tom Blundell was unbeaten on five.

England's new leadership team of Stokes and McCullum, had encouraged a team that had only won one of the 17 Tests before this series to be free to play.

One ball after Broad's departure, Bairstow holed out of spinner Michael Bracewell, to end a fantastic 157-ball innings that included 23 fours.

Khaled Ahmed and Mehidy Hazan Miraz scored late in the session, bringing Bangladesh back into competition after a century opening from Kraigg Brathwaite & John Campbell. West Indies won Lunch on Saturday on 137-4

Khaled scored twice, while Miraz and ShorifulIslam took one wicket each. As the hosts trail by 97 runs, Kyle Mayers and JermaineBlackwood remained unbeaten with four and two wickets respectively.

Brathwaite as well as Campbell were close to a half century, and Campbell's insatiable desire to reach the landmark led to Campbell's death.

Campbell tried to pull a short Shoriful delivery but couldn't top-edge it straight towards Nurul Hasan. He was then dismissed for 45.

After the first wicket, the rate of scoring dropped. The Bangladesh bowlers continued exerting pressure but were not getting rewarded.

Brathwaite finished his fifty, but he couldn't stay long as he missed a Miraz arm delivery that passed through his defenses and was dismissed for 51.

In the next over, Khaled bowled Raymon for 22 and Nkrumah Boner for a duck. This reduced West Indies' total to 132-4.
Blackwood and Mayers held their nerve in the last few overs and ensured that Bangladesh bowlers couldn't make further progress.
